From the churning windmills in the Zaanse Schans to the cheese weighing house in Edam, this tour highlights everything that is typical Dutch. See the beautiful landscapes of the province of North Holland and explore the traditional fishing village of Volendam. Learn about clog making in the wooden shoe shop and try some tasteful cheese in one of the Dutch cheese farms. Zaanse Schans. This outdoor preserved area is situated on the banks of the River Zaan and is home to the original 18th and 19th century architecture, including several still functioning windmills and wooden houses. From there we continue to the beautiful village of Edam, also commonly referred to as the pearl of the former Zuiderzee. Edam’s old streets and quiet canals are lined by beautiful 17th century buildings, including the leaning Carillon tower, the Big Church, and former town hall. Volendam; this typical fishing village with its bustling harbour has been a major tourist attraction since early 1875.

We had a great, knowledgeable guide. I wish I could rate this experience separately. Guide 5 stars, driver 1. Our guide was wonderful, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the driver was very unprofessional. He wore a grayling uniform which was not the company, the van was dirty with coffee cups from the last tour so little unsettling with COVID and he SMOKED in the van while we wtour.more

Wonderful experience! I learned a ton and I explored some truly beautiful areas. If you have a few days in Amsterdam, I would definitely recommend this. The guides were exceptional as well!

Bus not working so needed to wait until they fix it. Not enough time to complete the whole tour so needed to go back before visiting the third town and seeing in a hurry the second tour..

I would have expected at least a brief tour of the windmill village. Also, it was not made known that some of the windmill charge extra for admission. This was deceitful on part of tour operator. ALSO, THERE WERE VERY SMALL CHILDREN ON TOUR WHICH WAS VERY DISRUPTIVE TO THE TOUR GUIDE AND OTHER GUESTS. I do not think children under five years old should be allowed on tour.

A very good and professsional guide. Lots of cheese tasting samples. Wooden shoes workshop was a nice touch.

Eva our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about explaining the sites to the group. The cheese making factory was fun as well as visiting the traditional neighborhood of Edam and seeing up close the windmills. I recommend this tour

Harold and Hans (guide and driver) were pleasant, knowledgeable, fun. Harold surprise a group of young Germans on the bus by Speaking both English and German. They cheered and corrected his grammar and, with his great attitude, made the trip extra fun. However, don’t you think most people booking a trip to Edam are thinking about the cheese. Sadly, there is only a little history to be learned otour.more
